It was a busy day at The Paul Lawrie Golf Centre today (Tuesday 9th of May) for the second Paul Lawrie Foundation Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire Par 3 School’s competition. There was a total of 62 kids competing in all the sections, scratch, handicap for both boys and girls. The kids played 9 holes at the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre in the various different sections.
The sun was shining for the second ever Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire Par 3 School’s Championship despite the poor forecast.
The Under 18’s boys handicap section consisted of some very good scores, Ross Pirrie of Banchory Academy took home 1st Place in the handicap section with a brilliant score of 22.1. Louie Gardner of Dyce Academy finished in 2nd place with a fantastic net score of 22.2 and lost out on 1st place by very small margins. Fraser Ironside of Kemnay Academy edged out 3 other competitors by 1 shot to claim 3rd place with a nett score of 23.
In the Under 18’s scratch section, Defending Champion Oliver Robertson of Cults Academy scored a bogey free round of 25 (-2) which saw him lead the field and finish 1st and win the Paul Lawrie Foundation Aberdeen Schools Competition for a second year running. Oli Blackadder of Alford Academy scored a level par 27 with one birdie and a bogey and the rest pars to claim 2nd place. Evan Walker of Bridge of Don Academy took 3rd Place with a score of 29 (+2).
The girls handicap and scratch section was very competitive too with some great final scores. Lois Reid took 1st Place in the Handicap Section with a brilliant score of 33 (Net 22). Eve Ironside of Kemnay Academy took home 1st prize in the scratch section with a flawless round of 30 (+3).
Thanks very much to all the competitors for coming along, the field doubled from last year’s event which was great to see.
