Scottish Golf National Flag Events July – Strathlene Golf Club. PLGC and Kings Golf Club

The Scottish Golf National Events is a regional qualifying series which happens every year. It is a 9 hole flag event for the kids and the teams are consisted up of 4 players with the best 3 scores to count being the teams overall score. As part of the qualifying series The Paul Lawrie Foundation will host 3 of the national qualifying events, the winners of each regional qualifier will go on to qualify for the national final at Gleneagles on Saturday 2nd of September.

On Sunday the 2nd of July, The Pual Lawrie Foundation hosted a regional qualifier at Strathlene Golf Club. the wind was blowing all day long with showers of rain which made it very challenging for the players. There was 5 teams competing in this qualifier and was a very competitive qualifier with a few teams in the running for the chance to qualify at Gleneagles. Strathlen Buckie Team 1 came out victorious and will qualify for the national final at Gleneagles.

The second national flag qualifier took place on Sunday 9th of July at The Paul Lawrie Golf Centre which saw 10 teams participating in the event. There was also a stableford pilot which consisted of 5 teams and was getting a trialed out before being introduced by Scottish Golf next year. The weather stayed dry all day and the sun was shining. It was great to see over 60  junior golfers competing in the different sections and for some kids was their first ever competition. The Paul Lawrie Golf Centre team scored a fantastic 295 points which saw them qualify for the national final on Saturday the 2nd of September.
